DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING.

“EXERGY”, The Association of Mechanical Engineering Students, is a pivotal initiative dedicated to familiarizing emerging engineers with practical applications. Our primary objective is to cultivate lateral thinking, promote innovative research, and facilitate technical guidance from esteemed figures within the Mechanical Engineering sphere. Our activities encompass a diverse range, including field visits, team-building exercises, collaborative projects, debates, seminars, and more. Moreover, we are committed to establishing an award recognizing outstanding innovations to stimulate further advancements in the Mechanical sector.

Established on January 11, 2012, EXERGY was inaugurated by Dr. K Gopakumar, Associate Professor at TKM College of Engineering. Highlights of our recent endeavors include a presentation titled "Role of Technical Bodies in Engineering" delivered by Prof. Francis Augustine Joseph, a distinguished member of the SAEISS Management, during the Association Day on May 13, 2022. Additionally, for the academic year 2023-24, our Association Day, held on February 15, 2024, featured a technical session led by Associate Prof. Bejoy S., focusing on "Artificial Intelligence – A Big Picture," with insights shared by Prof. Sumod Sundar, an expert from the AI centre at TKM College of Engineering, Kollam.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

An orientation program of IEI was organized on 22/11/23, 3 .30 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Jerome Institute, Kollam. Dr. Channulal (HoD, EEE and an executive member of IEI) delivered welcome speech, followed an insightful speech on the importance of IEI membership and its role in advancing the engineering profession by Dr.Madhusoodanan Pillai K.Chairman IEI ,KLC (Vice Principal, Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering Sasthamcotta ) . It was a detailed presentation, explained the steps involved in obtaining IEI membership, including eligibility criteria, documentation, and the benefits of being a part of this esteemed institution. Students got an idea on IEI and its importance in their engineering profession .Students of S1and S3 civil and Electrical (100 Nos.)  Attended the program. Dr.Sudhi Mary Kurian, Honorary secretary ,IEI,KLC addressed the gathering. The program concluded at 4.30 p.m. Prof. Beena Varghese M. of EEE dept. delivered the vote of thanks.

Webinar on “ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY” was held on 30/5/21, Sunday in Google Meet platform at Bishop Jerome Institute, Kollam. Mr.Aadhith of s6 EEE delivered welcome speech, followed by the Technical session on “ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY ”by Mr.Arun M.S (Manager,Engineering Services,Carborundum Universal Ltd. Electro Minerals Division ,Kalamassery, Ernakulam). It was an informative session. Students got an idea on “electrical maintenance as well as the importance of electrical safety. Students of S2, S4 and S5 (60 Nos.)  aattended the webinar. The webinar concluded at 4.30 p.m. Ms.Vanditha M.S. Of S4 EEE delivered the vote of thanks

DEPARMENT OF ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATIONS 

The ECE Association, TRACES, diligently orchestrated a distinguished technical discourse entitled "Introduction to Machine Learning and Deep Learning," featuring Dr. Shailesh Sivan, Assistant Professor at Cochin University of Science and Technology. The event transpired on November 2, 2023, and served as a pivotal platform for students to gain profound insights into the burgeoning realms of machine learning and deep learning. The fortuitous opportunity to engage in dialogue with a luminary of Dr. Sivan's stature undoubtedly enriched the participants' understanding of contemporary advancements in the field, thereby contributing to their knowledge and awareness of emerging opportunities.

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING 

Department AssociationsThe Civil Engineering Students’ Association aims to play a pivotal role in the professional development of students through various out-of-curriculum and extracurricular activities. It aims to inculcate among its members an awareness and appreciation of the various disciplines of not just Civil Engineering but also other relevant fields. Association organises workshops, seminars, and conferences where students can learn about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in Civil Engineering.

The prime objectives of the association are:

  • To expose students to different specializations in Civil Engineering such as structural, transportation, geotechnical, and environmental engineering.
  • To allow students to connect and network with fellow students, professors, and industry professionals, which in turn help them in finding internships, co-op opportunities, and future job placements.
  • To host events where industry leaders discuss emerging technologies and trends so that students stay updated with the latest advancements in a rapidly evolving field like Civil Engineering.
  • To engage in Community Service and Outreach projects, which can provide students with practical experience and a sense of social responsibility.
  • Department Associations strives to enhance the educational experience, professional development, and overall preparedness for a successful career for each student.

Every year: academic activities, technical talks and software training classes are organized by eminent technocrats from institutions of prominence and within the department.

CE_LESTIA ’23

The annual civil association of the year 2023 named CE_LESTIA ’23 is to mark a confluence of expertise, innovation, and shared passion as we come together once again after our ERECTUS ’22. The constellations of civil engineering are vast, encompassing diverse domains such as structural engineering, transportation, environmental sustainability, and urban planning. As we embark on our celestial journey CE_LESTIA 23, we intend to illuminate, appreciate, encourage and celebrate the young engineers in each of our students.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE ENGINEERING

Internship

According to the university regulations, the CSE department has organized an internship for CSE students from 23/01/2024 to 28/01/2024. During this period, the students participated in a one-week internship on Python and Data Science at Srishti Innovative Computer Systems Technopark TVM, program on Java programming at Livewire Kottarakara, and internship program at CAD Centre Kollam.

Department of Computer Science signed MoU with “Srishti Campus” Technopark Trivandrum on 25th January 2024. The agreement was signed by keeping incompliance with the recognition of mutual interest in the field of training and development, industrial collaboration partnership and to provide knowledge and expertise to the students of the institution.
