Kollam, Kerala — Students from the Bishop Jerome School of Architecture & Design, Kollam, successfully completed an institutional study visit to The Sports Hub, Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The visit took place during the 1st ODI match between India and West Indies, providing students with an opportunity to integrate live sports event exposure with hands-on architectural field research.

Guided by the theme "Observe. Experience. Learn. Create," the study visit enabled students to observe the spatial and functional dynamics of large-scale sports infrastructure in real time.

Core Study Objectives

The field study focused on analyzing how massive civic structures handle large-scale operations under full-capacity conditions:

1. Architectural & Structural Analysis: Students studied the primary architectural features, structural frameworks, and built environment characteristics of the stadium venue.

2. Spatial Planning & Circulation: The group evaluated pedestrian movement patterns, functional zoning, seating layouts, and interior space distribution during a live event.

3. Facilities & Venue Management: Participants observed the venue's support facilities, access control points, and spatial management systems essential for high-capacity venue operations.

Experiential Learning in Public Assembly Architecture

By directly analyzing a major international venue during a live fixture, students gained practical perspective on public assembly design. The experience provided critical insights into circulation planning, structural logistics, and facility integration that will directly inform their future design studios and academic work.
