Kollam: In an effort to foster entrepreneurial skills and awareness among students, the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) Cell at Bishop Jerome Institute (BJI) is organizing a Level 2 Activity workshop for Quarter 3. The event, titled "Workshop: Protecting IPR & IP Management for Start-ups," is scheduled to take place on May 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
The workshop is being organized under the aegis of the Synergy Club and aligns with the Ministry of Education's initiative to promote innovation and intellectual property awareness in higher education institutions.
Event Overview and Objective
With the rising startup culture globally, understanding Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) has become vital for young entrepreneurs to protect their ideas, inventions, and brands. This workshop aims to provide participants with foundational knowledge on navigating the complexities of IP management, patenting, copyrights, and leveraging intellectual assets for business growth.

The day's itinerary is structured as follows:
10:00 AM – Welcome Speech: The event will commence with a welcome address by Mrs. Beena Varghese M (HOD in charge), setting the tone for the session.
10:05 AM – Presidential Address: Dr. Anil A R, the Principal of Bishop Jerome Institute, will deliver the presidential address, highlighting the importance of institutional support in student-led innovations.
Main Technical Session – Resource Person: The core workshop session will be led by Mr. Tony John, Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department. He will provide key insights into protecting intellectual property and strategic IP management specifically tailored for early-stage startups.
Concluding Session – Vote of Thanks: The workshop will conclude with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sneha Sunil (S2 EEE student), expressing gratitude on behalf of the organizing committee and attendees.
