Kollam, May 19, 2026: With the rapid advancement of technology, the demand for skilled minds in core engineering fields continues to soar. To introduce young students to the dynamic world of electrical systems, the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Bishop Jerome Institute (BJI), Kollam, is hosting a unique, immersive event titled "EEE Connect – Ignite Phase."
Themed around the core philosophy of "Explore, Experience, Excel in Electrical Engineering," this program is specifically tailored for Plus Two (Higher Secondary) and Diploma students. It aims to bridge the gap between academic textbooks and real-world industrial applications.
A Gateway to Electrical Engineering
Choosing a career path after high school or a diploma can be daunting. The "Ignite Phase" is designed to demystify the Electrical branch, showing students that it goes far beyond just wiring and power lines—it is the driving force behind renewable energy, smart grids, and future automation.
The institution, a recognized Centre of Excellence approved by AICTE, COA, and affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), is opening its state-of-the-art facilities to provide school and diploma-level students with rare, hands-on exposure.
Event Highlights: What to Expect
The one-day program features a curated lineup of activities meant to spark curiosity and inspire creativity:
Simple Electrical Experiments: Students will get to interact with beginner-friendly LED circuits and mini-working models, proving that learning engineering can be incredibly fun.
Electrical Safety Awareness Sessions: A crucial segment dedicated to educating young minds on safety protocols, handling equipment, and understanding electrical hazards.
Energy Conservation & Green Energy Ideas: With climate change taking center stage, this session will focus on sustainable practices, solar energy, and how modern electrical engineers are pioneering the green revolution.
Lab Visits & Live Demonstrations: Participants will tour the advanced engineering laboratories at Bishop Jerome Institute, witnessing complex machinery and systems in action.
Interactive Sessions: An open forum where visiting students can chat freely with current engineering students and professors to clear up doubts about campus life and the academic curriculum.
Why Should Students Join?
Apart from gaining practical knowledge, attendees will receive invaluable guidance on engineering courses and career prospects. Whether a student is confused about choosing EEE or wants to know what kind of jobs await them in the public and private sectors, the faculty and student mentors will be on hand to provide personalized advice.
The core team behind the initiative comprises dedicated educators and industry professionals, including Event Coordinators Ms. Beena Varghese M and Ms. Telma Johnson (Assistant Professors at BJI), alongside expert insights from team members like Dony C S (Assistant Executive Engineer, KSEB Limited) and Rahul R (Assistant Professor, BJI).
