KOLLAM – In a significant move to foster a culture of innovation and self-reliance, the Bishop Jerome Institute (BJI) successfully hosted "Entrepreneur’s Arena," a two-day intensive program designed to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit of its students. The event, held on April 10 and 13, 2026, transformed the campus into a hub of creative business ideas and strategic planning.

Organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)—a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Education—the event was officially designated as a Quarter 3, Level 3 Activity. This high-level classification underscores the institute's commitment to moving beyond classroom theory into real-world venture validation.

Empowering the Next Generation of Visionaries

Under the theme "Turning vision into venture by igniting your entrepreneurial spirit," the program provided a platform for students from the Schools of Engineering, Architecture, and Management to pitch their concepts and refine their business models.

The event was spearheaded by Anu G, Associate Professor in the Department of Basic Science, who served as the lead organizer. Speaking on the objective of the event, the organizing team emphasized that the goal was not just to discuss business, but to provide the practical "ignition" necessary to convert a simple idea into a sustainable start-up.

Event Highlights

The sessions took place in the Main Block Seminar Hall from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and featured several key components:

  • Interactive Pitching: Students presented their innovative projects, receiving critical feedback on scalability and market feasibility.

  • Skill Development: Workshops focused on the essential "Quarter 3" goals of the IIC calendar, which often include business plan competitions and mentor linkages.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: The event saw a unique blend of technical expertise from engineering students and design thinking from architecture students, all guided by the business acumen of the management department.

A Legacy of Excellence
