KOLLAM – The Media Club of the Department of Civil Engineering at Bishop Jerome Institute (BJI) is set to host a unique test of technical skill and creative storytelling: the One Shot Story Challenge.
Breaking away from traditional structural blueprints, students will shift their focus to the cinematic lens. The challenge tasks teams with creating a compelling 1-minute short film shot in a single, continuous take—meaning absolutely no cuts allowed.
Event Details
The event is scheduled for this Friday, providing a high-energy window for students to showcase their cinematography and coordination skills.
Date: Friday, 13 February
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Host: Media Club, Department of Civil Engineering
Faculty Coordinator: Ryfana Subair, Asst. Professor
The Challenge: Precision in Motion
In the world of filmmaking, the "long take" is a mark of extreme planning and precision—traits that are second nature to engineering students. Participants must balance timing, movement, and narrative within a tight 60-second window.
Key Rules:
Duration: Exactly 1-minute video deadline.
Format: Single continuous take (No post-production cuts).
Collaboration: Students are encouraged to form teams to manage acting, lighting, and camera movement.
How to Participate
Interested students should gather their teams and prepare their concepts ahead of the 3:00 PM start time. This is a prime opportunity to demonstrate that civil engineering is as much about creative vision as it is about technical design.
"Form your teams and showcase your creativity! We look forward to seeing the unique perspectives our students bring to the screen." — Department of Civil Engineering
