     The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an Awareness Program on Cyber Security in the Digital Age on 30th October 2025 at 11:00 AM. The objective of the program was to educate students about the growing threats in cyberspace and to promote safe and responsible digital practices among youth.

     The session commenced with a prayer song, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Geethu Raju, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students, emphasizing the increasing importance of cybersecurity awareness in the modern digital era.

The Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. Anil A. R, Principal, Bishop Jerome Institute. He spoke about the rapid growth of digital technologies and how cybercrimes have evolved alongside technological advancements. He highlighted the need for students to remain vigilant and adopt strong security measures to protect their data and privacy online.

    The Presidential Address by Dr. Radhakrishnan B, Dean, inspired students to use technology responsibly. He appreciated the department’s initiative in organizing such a relevant and timely session that helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world challenges in cybersecurity.

The Resource Person, Mr. Darvin M, Civil Police Officer, delivered an engaging and insightful session on various aspects of Cyber Security in the Digital Age.

He discussed:-

  • The importance of strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
  • The dangers of phishing, identity theft, and online scams. 
  • Safe usage of social media platforms and protection from cyberbullying.
  • Legal aspects of cybercrimes and the role of law enforcement in cyber investigations. 
  • The significance of ethical online behaviour and digital responsibility.

He also shared real-life case studies from his professional experience, which gave students a practical understanding of how cyberattacks occur and how they can be prevented. The session provided participants with valuable insights into how to safeguard personal and institutional data, manage online identity securely, and recognize suspicious digital activities. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Suppal S, Assistant Professor, CSE Department. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, Dean, HOD, Resource person, Faculty, and students for their active participation and contribution to the success of the event.
